Overcome The Fear Of Prospecting

Network Marketing Tip – Overcome The Fear Of Prospecting

There is a big difference between prospecting for your network marketing business and reaching out to people on your contact list.  Someone on your contact list is someone you are already know.  Someone who is your prospect is someone you don’t know yet.  Most people can’t overcome the fear of prospecting and this could lead their business to failure; They may even say that Network Marketing (also called Direct Sales and MLM)  didn’t work for them.  The truth is, if you can overcome the fear of prospecting you will succeed. Here is a tip, change the way you look at prospecting – look at it this way…
I’ve never heard of anyone ever breaking an arm or leg let alone a finger when they opened their mouth and started a friendly conversation. Starting a friendly conversation is the beginning of prospecting.  To me, prospecting is opening up a new relationship by engaging in a friendly conversation and getting to know the other person. You don’t even know if they are someone you would want on your team if you don’t start communicating with them. Using this approach you also don’t feel vulnerable and get your feelings hurt by thinking they rejected you in some way. Don’t put so much on a simple friendly conversation.
When you have the mindset that all you are doing is going about your day, just having conversations with new people as well as those on your contact list, the anxiety goes away. All you are doing is making a friend, just being nice or helpful.  There may be something in the course of friendly conversation that opens a door for you to simply mention what you do.  They may mention  what they do,  they  may be electrician and you may need an electrician in your contacts.
When you take this approach you end up choosing who you want to introduce to your business and who you don’t. No pressure just making friends.

I remember when I allowed fear to consume me from talking to people because all I had on my mind was how I wanted to “get them in my business”. I was addicted to the result and it most likely showed. That approach usually produces the result – nothing – and then you think the result confirms that you cannot prospect. It is your mindset and approach that needs to shift. You like helping people that is why you are in this business. When I figured out that if I simply got to know the prospect with some simple opening lines like:
“Hi, how are you, my name is Ed…What is your name?  Joe/Sue, great to meet you.  How long have you been coming to this place or are you from around here?”
These simple conversations WILL lead to you determining if you want to exchange information with this person or not.
You may decide that this person does not have the qualities that you would like to have on your team. They may not have the drive or desire for anything different than what they currently are doing. That is fine. Maybe you will choose to keep them in your contacts because you really do need an electrician. Maybe you choose not to go any further with the relationship other than a friendly conversation. Check yourself – did you break any bones?
Now that you fully understand you can’t break a leg, arm or let alone a finger in your body simply by having conversations with people now it’s time to create the mindset that YOU are in full control of who you want to “allow” to see your business. In the meantime, engage in friendly conversations and just enjoy the process.
When you take this position in your mind you’ll be able to think clearly while engaged in a conversation and be able to “listen” more carefully for triggers.  Those triggers are what your prospect wants that they don’t have.  They may talk about needs or desires which can lead to some of the pain they are experiencing based on their current situation.  Simply by listening you may be the answer to something they are looking for. If and when the opportunity occurs you will simply offer a potential solution. Your conversation will just be natural.
Unless you are stuck somewhere for hours with this person it would be most likely not the time to go directly into your product line, compensation plan, etc. I am suggesting that you make a decision if this person may be someone that you would consider a good fit for your business. If they are and you don’t have much time or they are in a hurry, simple say,
“ I’d love to continue this conversation, I’m so glad I met you. Here’s my number, what’s yours? I’d like to follow up and so we can reconnect.”
Simple conversations without talking about the deep details of your business ends up building the foundation for further conversation about your business at a later time. This approach is a great way to overcome the fear of prospecting. Relationships start with one conversation but they are not built in one conversation.
You’re feelings won’t get hurt in fact your confidence will soar and you’ll talk with more people. You will learn to enjoy the process. This mindset tip helps to increase the amount of people that you show the business to.  You can overcome the fear of prospecting and grow your business immediately as long as you break the shackles in your mind. You will not break a bone by engaging people in conversation; you will only make friend and maybe a new team member.

What Is At Stake If You Fail

Personal Development And Network Marketing Tips – What Is At Stake If You Fail?

I have trained thousands of people on the topic of what is at stake if you fail? The key is to find something so painful it moves you to be consistentWhat-Is-At-Stake-If-You-Fail daily which gets you one step closer to reaching your goals. What is truly deep down inside you that will turn the switch on¸ the switch that drives you so you will do what it takes to be successful in your network marketing business?
You see, when you search deep down within yourself to find what it is that is so painful you will be unstoppable. Imagine that pain as if you were backed into a corner and let the consequences of failure be felt so deep in your heart that it becomes unthinkable that you could ever allow failure to happen.  Turn those thoughts into positive motivation so you to take action to reach your dreams.
I’m sure you’ve heard in other trainings and I’ve even mentioned it several times within my articles on my blog that you must ask yourself the reason why you are doing this business.  Yes, that is a critical element however follow it up by asking yourself what is at stake if you fail at the reason you are doing the business so it drives you daily.  When you make the consequences so dire it will move you to take positive action.
Make it real.  Make it so real it gets you emotional.  Emotion turns into motion which is the key here.  When you create some sort of potential negative results in your mind for not succeeding in your business you can easily replace it with something positive to take you where you want to be.
Some time ago, I was in a bad place in my life.  I got through it with the support of my family and friends.  I use that negative situation to motivate me daily.  I will never allow that situation to happen to me again. What I do daily moves me one step closer to achieving the reason why I’m building my business and away from the pain. I have to take daily action.  Sometimes I am not as motivated as others; I don’t feel like taking action.  I’m sure you have days like that also.  On those days you don’t feel like doing the action needed. Replace that feeling with the question of What Is At Stake If I Fail? The pain you have associated with failure will cause a stir in you to take the steps necessary to move you closer to your goals.
Your why is at stake if you fail. What is the fear deep inside?  Are you fine with living a life of mediocrity? Would you be happy if you couldn’t provide for your family?  Maybe you fear that you’ll never be able to afford to move out of the area you live? Could it be that you want to provide a better education for your children?  Maybe your fear is failing at your home based business and having to return to a job you hate.
Write the words, What Is At Stake If I Fail? on a sticky note and put it in areas of your house that you spend time the most time.  Maybe put one on the bathroom mirror, one on the door when you go to the restroom, in your dressing area or on your computer’s monitor.  How about put a sticky note on the dash of your car. Take a picture and make it your lock screen wallpaper on your phone.
The key is to ask yourself this question daily, What Is At Stake If I Fail? All day throughout the day and night let the pain sink deep down that it moves you to take action in your business every day.  Based on the results I’ve heard from people I’ve coached over the years this technique will drive you to be unstoppable. You will reach the small and big targets you will achieve the goals you have in your business.  When that happens, you can teach others on your team to do the same and watch how your business grows.

Leverage The Power Of Your Team

Network Marketing Tip – Leverage The Power Of Your Team

Whether you just enrolled into your new network marketing business or if you’ve been a representative for a while use this tip – leverage the power of your team. This leveraging power will come in handy, here’s why.
My mentor always told me if you want to be successful in the MLM industry you have to understand that you are in business for yourself BUT by no means are you in business by yourself.  There is a big difference.
If you opened a traditional business it’s all on you. Sales, marketing, hiring employees, purchasing and managing inventory just to name a few tasks that fall in your responsibility. Running your overall business just to get a customer in the door can be overwhelming and exhausting. Not to mention expensive.   Then there is the cost of the learning curve because some of these things may not be your expertise which could lead to your business failing.  Most start up businesses fail within their first 3-5 years.
You can take almost all of those tasks off the list of owning a business by choosing networking marketing as your business structure. In Network Marketing (sometimes called Direct Sales or MLM) you will have an instant team of people to help you and the best part is that you do not pay them directly. The good news about the network marketing industry is that your up line gets paid when you enroll new team member by the company not by you. Since this is the case, you can put them to work without having to pay them. So instead of getting employees you get partners. You are one of the team members and you will have your part. The partners do not get paid until they help you be successful. You just have to follow the system already set up by the company.
They key is to leverage the power of your team. You do this many ways. One is to make a list of people you want to introduce to your business. Your up line team members will help you as you go through the process of setting up appointments with your contacts so that they can learn more about what you are doing. At the appointment you set, your up line can be there with you in person or on the phone as you present to your prospect.
DO NOT show your company presentation alone.  For at least your first 10 if not 20 prospects your up line should be with you. Listen carefully as to what they say and how they say it that brings your prospect on board. Leverage the power of your team by allowing your up line to be there to answer questions from prospect, this teamwork effort is a powerful technique used to enroll new prospects onto your team.  The best part is that your knowledge of the business and even the product/service may be next to nothing but yet you can still enroll someone by using your up line.  You will learn and make money as you grow instead of the traditional business lose money lose money until you learn enough to maybe make money.

Remember, they get paid when you enroll your prospects so put them to work and learn from their expertise. Your up line will have the answers to your prospects questions, they can handle the objections your prospects give at the end of the presentation and when your prospect decides to enroll, it’s a win, win for your prospect, you and your up line.
By submitting to the process in the beginning regardless of your prior experience you will build a team where everyone who enrolls plugs right in and learns how to leverage the power of your team.  The end result is that you can put your up line “to work” because they will invest time with you. Of course, you have to work too by setting up good quality appointments to show your business.  It is a team effort and you are part of the team and have your part. Your up line will invest as much time as it takes to work with you and develop more people on the team from your contacts. They will continue until either you or someone on your team becomes the next leader to continue the process of handling questions and overcoming objections that lead to enrolling new team members.
So why not put your up line “to work” in the beginning since they are earning an income from your efforts?  It is the ultimate business set up when you leverage the power of your team.  The power of duplication leads to growing a big team that can lead you from a part time income to a full time income.

Why Mentors Are Important

Network Marketing Tip – Why Mentors Are Important

Back in 1991, I met a gentleman in church who changed my life forever when I was introduced to the idea of mentorship.  The reason why mentors are important is that they guide you through a time tested proven path so you don’t have to experience as much pain in the learning process. This is a much better way to go about building your network marketing business than doing it alone.
If you were completely honest with yourself most things you do are what you want to do and/or are comfortable doing.  If there is little risk you are more likely to try it then if there was greater risk. Most people get lazy in their network marketing business because they haven’t risked enough financially to cause them enough pain if they fail.
It’s critical to get a mentor. No matter if you are brand new to the business or have been in for a while. Even if you have been with several companies in the past a mentor can be a tremendous benefit.  Another reason why mentors are important is that they can help you build a customized strategy or plan to help you reach your financial goals. The experience of a mentor can get you their quicker.
Your goals may be that you want to break free from your job and spend more time with your family. Maybe you just want to upgrade your quality of life, donate more of your time to a charity or have more money to support a charity.  Whatever your goals are creating a plan with the help of a mentor will get you there strategically.
I believe another reason why mentors are important is they can hold you accountable to the plan. Once the plan is set your mentor will keep a close guard on your business each month so you can stay on track.  .  You should have regular calls or meetings with your mentor to tell them what you’ve been doing with your time as well as what you did or you didn’t accomplish.  You need encouragement from someone who’s cheering for you in your corner.

Going back to my early career in network marketing my mentor and I would be in his basement home office with a huge 4’x8’ white board mounted on his wall. On that wall he would draw out his goals for the month. From there he would break down what my goals for the month were so the plan would work.  We would further address the weekly and daily goals like how many presentations were needed which equated to the team growing. He showed me that by him helping me achieve my goals it was a big part of him achieving his.
We also reviewed the people on my team. We evaluated who was close to reaching a new rank or pin level, access the amount of business volume inside the team as well as pinpoint those team members who were eager to succeed.  My mentor and me after identifying those ready to grow their business would plan my time and he would assign me X time per these team members so my time was best spent and not wasted on those who I thought would be great to spend time with. His experience could identify best where my time should be spent otherwise my days would be used up with little results. All of these things we would draw out on a white board.
As I focused on helping each of my team members achieve their goals for the month it put the pieces in place for me to reach my goals which in turn assisted my mentor with his.  We all were one big team and we focused on each other’s business and the team naturally grew.  I realized early on how hard it was to build all by yourself with no experienced guidance that is why mentors are important.
My mentor became my friend but we also knew business was business.  At the end of the day I was responsible for my actions and business and he was for his.  This network marketing tip about why mentors are important laid the foundation for my business career and remains a cornerstone that I teach to anyone who is in the MLM industry.
Now is the best time ever to build a big business and reach whatever your financial and personal goals that you have. If you can’t find anyone in your upline that can assist you as a mentor, I’d like to extend an offer to work directly with you. I have worked with many representatives in several MLM companies in reaching their goals.

Network Marketing Success Starts With You

Network Marketing Tip – Network Marketing Success Starts With You

You might have heard this before but if you haven’t it’s critical to have the right mindset because network marketing success starts with you.  You wereNetwork-Marketing-Success-Starts-With-You probably attracted to the industry because of seeing and hearing about other’s success or maybe it was the product or service.  That’s cool and those are common reasons. To earn a full time income and live the life of your dreams is very possible but the reality is that it’s going to take a lot of dedication and discipline. You do have it inside you.
Here’s a helpful tip, network marketing success starts with you.  No one is going to build your business for you.  Which simply means you must create daily discipline and dedication to work on yourself more than your business when you get started. Finding out about who you are is part of the process in obtaining all types of success.
When you are mentally prepared for the ups and downs of the business (which will be the case over your career) then you can set a strong foundation to build your business for the long term. Take your business seriously, don’t think that it only cost you a few hundred dollars — treat it like you’ve invested millions the cost of many franchise and start up businesses. With that mindset you can’t afford failure.
Another reason network marketing success starts with you is because the life blood of your business is based on building relationships. You will need to care about your relationships. Developing relationship skills, learning how to concentrate on listening to others needs, wants, pains and desires over what you want out of life will enable you to attract more prospects to grow your business.
You will need to work on your attitude. No one wants to be around a negative person.  When you invest in your own personal development your minds expands and then it will desire more and more information to grow.  Feed your mind with positive, motivational and inspirational material.  This causes you to have better quality conversations when you are developing new relationships. This will only help to attract people; they will want to learn more about what you do.
In fact, if you spent more time on developing yourself when you first enroll with your MLM business before you start telling those close to you, they will see a positive change in you and want to know more about what you are doing.  That’s when attraction marketing starts to kick in.
Network marketing success starts with you, not your upline, side line, cross line or down line.  You will become an instant leader the more you work on yourself as it will show up to those in your company.  The money part of the business will come when you first focus on your own development.
None of us are too old or young to be constantly learning.  Invest small amounts of time daily to develop your mind.  You’ll know when this action is making an impact on your life when family and friends around you start to make positive comments about the change they see in you.
MLM (sometimes called Direct Sales or Multi-Level Marketing) is the best industry in the world that allows anyone to get started with a team that will assist each another to reach their personal and financial goals.  Keep in mind that network marketing success starts with you and no one else.  Make it happen, I believe in you!
